100 students, 11-19 yrs.
25 staff

The International School Groningen was established in 1984 as a department of the Maartenscollege, a Dutch secondary school in Groningen, at the request of international companies in the north of the Netherlands.

At present the International School has 100 students from 26 countries. The school offers the IB MYP programme from 11-16 and the IB DP proramee from 16-19.

Students who have graduated from the school have found places at many universities and institutions of higher education in the USA, UK and in the Netherlands.

All teachers at International School Groningen are graduates from universities in the UK, the USA or the Netherlands and take part in a thorough scheme of teacher training courses and international conferences, both general and subject specific.

The school is housed in an old country mansion with classrooms appropriate to the size of its classes (14 students on average). However, it uses all facilities of the nearby Dutch mother school (MaartensCollege)including science laboratories, gymnasiums, sports fields, art rooms, library and computer facilities.

Admission follows an interview with the head and the relevant coordinator. Previous school reports and tests will normally play a role in the admission procedure.
