Violenschool is a primary school, subsidised by the Dutch Government,
to continue English/International education for expatriate children
in the Netherlands on a short-term basis.
The academic programme is based on the Primary Years Programme
of the International Baccalaureate Organisation with a view to developing
an international curriculum while integrating Dutch requirements.
The staff at Violenschool consists of English native speakers with
an international background. They are all fully qualified Primary
School teachers. The management of the school is Dutch.
There are currently 40 nationalities on the student body with an
average length of stay of approximately three years.
The Violenschool school year is planned according to Dutch regulations.
Emphasis is placed on family involvement in Dutch community life.
The Violenschool is housed in two modern buildings with all facilities
in residential areas in Hilversum.
Admission to the school is available for the international orientated
community; no specific criteria for acceptance are required except
an ability to speak English to a reasonable standard. Prospective
parents and pupils are interviewed by the headmaster of the International
Department.
